Most of us know that chronic stress can increase our risk of worse health ouctomes:
- Worse insulin resistance and diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease
- Brain health (cognitive and memory impairment, dementia)
- Systemic inflammation
- Gut health (dysbiosis, inflammation, leaky gut, impaired nutrient absorption and detoxification)
While you may know when you feel stressed, you can’t tell if it is manifesting with physiological effects without testing. If you determine if stress is affecting your body, you can address it and assess your progress with repeat testing.
I recommend testing with a saliva test that measures your cortisol levels throughout the day (DUTCH test) and using a biofeedback device called Inner Balance (from Heartmath).
